Christmas Season
With the celebration of Christmas day soon to be behind us, many are tempted to pack away the memories of Christmas with the decorations as quickly as possible!  The Church invites us to savour the joy of the Season.  We continue to celebrate the Christmas season for many days.  During this time we observe some very beautiful feasts:

Holy Family - , December 28th - we invoke the intercession of the Holy Family of Nazareth - Jesus, Mary and Joseph - for our own families.

Mary, Mother of God - Thursday, January 1st -the Church celebrates Mary a model of discipleship and trust in the God’s promises.  We seek her intercession and protection in the coming year.  This day is also the World Day of Prayer for Peace.

Epiphany of the Lord - Sunday, January 4th - on this day we recall that Christ is the light of all nations guiding us with wisdom and justice.

Baptism of the Lord - Sunday, January 11th - draws the Christmas season to a conclusion.  On this day we celebrate the adult Jesus’ baptism in the Jordan River by John the Baptist, thus inaugurating his saving mission which culminates in the Cross and Resurrection.

All Youth: The Steubenville Toronto event is happening once again the summer of 2015.  It takes place from August 7-9th.  Our parish will be organizing a group to attend.  The cost is $250.00 per person.  This covers transportation, hotel, meals and the conference.  This event is for young people grade 8 to grade 12.  A $50.00 deposit is required at registration.  For more information or to register, go to encounterstmatthew@gmail.com or attend the next Encounter Your Group gathering.  Also, there will be a registration table after all Masses on the weekend of January 10,11/  All registrations are required by January 15 since we need to reserve places by that date.  Last year we had 30 young people attend from our parish.  We expect even more this year, so register early to insure a spot.
