food for All: Share Lent Awareness Session
Come out to this informative evening to reflect on Pope Francis' call to respond to poverty and lack of food in our world. The Development and Peace awareness program is focussed on the call of the Pope that we strive to provide food for all within our one human family. This session is on Tuesday, April 1st at 7:30 p.m. in our parish hall.
We are looking for adult volunteers to assist in the planning and teaching of our Summer Bible Camp, which will run from 0 am to 12 noon on July 21 to 25th. This is a great opportunity for those who have an interest in teaching to have a positive experience both planning and teaching children (grades 1-5)
For more information, please contact Shari Whaley at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in helping with this exciting camp. More details concerning the camp will follow and registration will take place Sunday, April 27th following morning Masses.
Another group joined Paul and Debbie Dinner on a volunteer experience in Uganda. Here is a report from Paul about the actions they were involved in while there:
" The major item was the installation of 2 rainwater retention systems, one at a school and another at a maternity clinic, neither of which were close to clean water and made a significant difference to the 2 communities. In addition, we did a medical clinic where 500 children and adults were tested for malaria and HIV, did 2 breakfast feedings for a total of 500 children, distributed 2000 school kits and painted 2 classrooms. We had a very busy time and an excellent group of volunteers."
Paul and Debbie plan on organizing another Parish Volunteer experience to Uganda next February. Information will be available in the spring.
We ask you to be sensitive when parking in the local neighbourhood. Especially in the winter be careful not to block driveways or intersections. It is also best not to park right across from another parked car since it blocks the street making it difficult for our neighbours to drive through the street. Anyone illegally parking in the church parking lot or on the street is liable to regular parking enforcement by the city and can receive tickets. Your assistance in being sensitive to our neighbours with your parking is appreciated. Fr. Mark
