CWL Events
St. Matthew’s Catholic Women’s League would like to invite the ladies of the parish to “Catch the Fire”, an inspirational workshop for all Catholic women, ages 16 and up, that is spreading across Canada and promises to enlighten us with the sparks of renewed enthusiasm, spirit and faith.  Come and ‘Catch the Fire’ on Saturday, November 8th at the parish from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Morning coffee/tea and treats, as well as lunch will be available.  There is no cost for the program, treats and lunch.  It is for all Catholic women, not just members.  There will be a sign up after all Masses October 26th and November 2nd.

“Grief Relief”
Has someone you cared about died? Are you grieving the loss of the person’s presence in your life? Are you wondering if these feelings are normal? You are not alone!  Grief Relief is a six week educational series dealing with grief     When: Thursdays, beginning October 16th Time 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Where: Saint Matthew room   Attend as many sessions as you wish. Book & Media Fair with Pauline Books and Media
This weekend, the Daughters of St. Paul will be here before and after all the Masses beginning with the Saturday Vigil.  This is a great opportunity to get something inspirational to read, watch or listen to, for yourself, family and friends.  Please stop by to see what a great selection of Catholic books, music CDs and DVD movies are being offered from Sister’s Pauline Book & Media Centre on Dufferin Street. 
New Volunteers for Seniors Ministry Meeting Thursday, October 23rd at 7:00 pm in the parish hall. Thursday Morning Music Classes for Babies, Toddlers and Preschoolers starting October 23rd
This new program is  for parents and caregivers to attend with their babies, toddlers or preschoolers.  Each half-hour class will be filled with music, movement and fun.  Catherine Osborne, cantor at the 9 am Mass, will lead the class.  The seven week session costs $70. 00 per child.  There are three class times to choose from, 9 am, 10 am or 11 am.  Please contact Catherine Osborne at 905 582-1652 or cate@osbornefamily.ca.

High School Volunteer Hour Opportunity
Are you a high school teen looking for service hours while having fun and helping a child?  Big Brothers Big Sisters is looking for volunteers for its Homework Club program at St. Joseph School on Wednesdays and Mother Teresa School on Thursdays after school for 70 minutes. Help a child with homework, read together, play games, be a friend!  Commitment from mid-October to mid-May. Winter Banquet
Following our 25th Anniversary Dinner and Dance, many of you enjoyed it so much that you have been asking for another event. So, we have decided to host a Winter Banquet.  It will be a dinner and dance at Le Dome Banquet Centre on Saturday, January 31st.  Tickets will be sold in the fall, but you may want to book it in your calendar now.
Angel Tree
Saint Vincent de Paul   will be setting up our Annual ‘Angel Tree’ the weekends of November 9th and 16th. You may take an angel and return it with the unwrapped item by the latest date of December 3rd, so the deliveries can be made the following day.
Your past generosity has helped make Christmas brighter for the many families in our parish community who are in need.
Book of Remembrance
The ‘Book of Remembering the Dead’ will be placed at the front of the church for the month of November.  This book is for parishioners who wish to add the names of your deceased loved ones.  We will pray for those who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith.
