New Parish Prayer
Beginning Tuesday, September 8th, our parish will pray Lauds (Morning Prayer) each Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday evening Mass at 7:00 p.m. will continue.  Also, most of our school Masses will be scheduled on Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m.  Please see bulletin schedule for dates of these Tuesday school Masses.  Morning prayer is part of the public official prayer of the Church which is prayed by all priests, deacons and religious.  Vatican Council II encouraged the laity to join in this official prayer of the Church.

The Liturgy of the Hours
(Also know as the breviary or Divine Office)
From Ancient times the Church has had the custom of celebrating each day the liturgy of the hours.  In this way the Church fulfills the Lord’s precept to pray without ceasing, at once offering its praise to God The Father and interceding for the salvation of the world.” Office of the Sacred Congregation for Divine Worship.

The Liturgy of the Hours is the prayer of the whole People of God.  In it, Christ himself “continues his priestly work through his Church.”  His members participate according to their own place in the Church and the circumstances of their lives.  The lait, too, are encouraged to recite the divine office either with the priests, among themselves, or individually.

The celebration of the Liturgy of the House remands not only harmonizing the voice with the praying heart, but also a deeper “understanding of the liturgy and of the Bible, especially the Psalms.
See Catechism of the Catholic Church, Part Two, Section One, Chapter Two.
Come out on Tuesday mornings to join with our priests, our parish and the Church throughout the world in praying the Liturgy of the Hours.  The Liturgy of the Hours can be found on the Web.  A few sample sites are listed below:
